3.1.2.17. Installation of a cranked shaft and check of gaps of radical bearings

GENERAL INFORMATION

Sequence of an inhaling of bolts of covers of radical bearings


Installation of a cranked shaft is the first important operation at engine assembly. It is meant that the block of cylinders and a cranked shaft are completely cleared, checked, прошлифованы or are chiseled under the repair sizes.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Arrange the block so that the lower part was turned up.
2. Unscrew bolts of covers of radical bearings, get covers and spread out them as their installation.
3. Get from covers and the block of cylinders loose leaves of radical bearings. Wipe surfaces of the bottom and top loose leaves the pure fabric which is not leaving pile. These details should be stored in full purity!
Check of gaps in radical bearings
4. Clear an external surface of the new radical loose leaves having oil flutes, and enclose them in a bed of the block of cylinders. The corresponding response loose leaves enclose in covers. Be convinced that the ledge on the loose leaf coincides with sample on the block or on a cover. Besides, the opening of the oil channel in a bed of the block of cylinders should be combined with a lubricant opening in the loose leaf.

Prevention

Are not allowed loose leaf installation in a place by hammer blows, and also drawing of scratches at installation. At this stage to grease the loose leaf it is not required.


5. Persistent half rings are established in a saddle and a bed of the central loose leaf (number 3).
6. Wipe working surfaces of loose leaves in the block and radical necks of a cranked shaft pure rags not leaving pile. Check or clear oil channels of a cranked shaft as now the unique way of an exit of any pollution lies via new bearings.
7. At full confidence of purity of a shaft carefully put it in a place on loose leaves of radical bearings.
8. Before final installation of the crankshaft it is necessary to check a gap in radical bearings.
9. Prepare some pieces of a calibration plastic wire of "Plastigauge", which length a little less than a width of radical bearings, and put on one piece on each radical neck of the crankshaft parallel to its axis.
10. Clear surfaces of loose leaves in covers and establish covers in a place (do not mix them) so that shooters were turned towards a forward part of the engine. To touch a plastic wire it is not allowed. Slightly grease carvings and internal surfaces of heads of bolts, wrap bolts.
11. Tighten in three steps till the moment specified in subsection 3.1.2.1. bolts of fastening of covers, tighten bolts in the specified sequence (see fig. Sequence of an inhaling of bolts of covers of radical bearings). At a tightening of bolts rotation of the crankshaft is not allowed.
12. Unscrew bolts of covers and carefully lift covers of radical bearings. Arrange covers as it should be corresponding to a place of their installation. To break the provision of a calibration wire and to rotate a cranked shaft it is not allowed. If removal of a cover is complicated, displace a cover slightly having knocked sideways with a hammer with soft the brisk.
13. Compare thickness of each of crushed calibration a provolok (by the widest part of a wire) with a scale on packing, define gap size in radical bearings and compare to standard value. Do not mix a unit of measure, values of a scale are specified in inches and millimeters.
14. If the gap does not correspond to norm, the wrong selection of dimensional group of loose leaves can be the reason (the order of selection is described in subsection 3.1.2.14. Before making the decision on replacement of loose leaves be convinced that at measurements there were no pollution or oil between bearings and the interfaced surfaces of covers and beds of the block of cylinders. If the width of the crushed wire on the ends strongly differs, the radical neck of the crankshaft has a konusnost (see subsection 3.1.2.13).
15. Carefully scratch out the remains of a calibration material from necks of a cranked shaft and / or from surfaces of radical bearings. Do not allow damage of surfaces of radical bearings.
Final installation of the crankshaft
16. Carefully get a cranked shaft from the block of cylinders. Clean working surfaces of radical bearings and put on each loose leaf of the bearing a thin homogeneous layer of greasing on the basis of a molybdenum or oil disulfide for engine assembly. Grease also surfaces of persistent half rings.
17. Grease the necks of the crankshaft being in contact to epiploons by greasing on the basis of a disulfide of molybdenum, oil for assembly of the engine or fresh oil for the engine.
18. Be convinced of purity of necks of a cranked shaft, then establish it in the block of cylinders. Clear surfaces of loose leaves in covers and put on each of them a thin layer of greasing. Establish covers on the former places so that shooters were turned towards a forward part of the engine.

Prevention

On each side the central bearing surely establish persistent half rings.


19. (From the block of cylinders) it is possible to establish the top persistent half rings into place by turn round a crankshaft neck when the last is established in the block of cylinders. Flutes of half rings should be turned outside.
20. The bottom persistent half rings with adjusting ledges should be put on covers of bearings by flutes outside so that ledges came into grooves on covers.
21. Slightly grease carvings and internal surfaces of heads of bolts of covers, wrap bolts. Tighten bolts in three steps till the moment specified in subsection 3.1.2.1, tighten bolts in the specified sequence (see fig. Sequence of an inhaling of bolts of covers of radical bearings).
22. Check freedom of rotation of the crankshaft, having turned by hand on some turns.
23. Shchup or the indicator check axial люфт the crankshaft (see subsection 3.1.2.10). If surfaces of persistent half rings are not worn-out or are not damaged, or if new persistent half rings are established, axial люфт should correspond to norm.

24. Establish in the holder a new epiploon and fix the holder bolts on the block of cylinders (see subsection 3.1.2.18).
