1.5.34. 3-step automatic transmission

GENERAL INFORMATION

Normal mode of movement

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To start the engine (cм. subsection 1.6). The lever should be in situation P or N.
2. Holding a foot a brake pedal, transfer the lever to situation D. In situation D there is an automatic choice of the most suitable transfer for traffic conditions, for example for normal horizontal movement, for movement on lifting, at towage etc.

Prevention

At inclusion of transfer it is forbidden to press a butterfly valve pedal.

3. Release the hand brake and a brake pedal. Slowly press a butterfly valve pedal, smoothly get under way from a place.

Braking by the engine

For braking by the engine transmission is switched to a low gear as follows.

If speed of the car is lower maximum permissible for the second transfer, transfer the lever to situation "2". Transmission will be switched to the second transfer.

If speed of the car is lower maximum permissible for situation "L", transfer the lever to situation "L". Transmission will be switched to the first transfer and braking effect will increase.

Maximum permissible speeds

In situation "2"
109 km/h
In situation "L"
63 km/h

Prevention

When switching on a low gear on the slippery road be extremely careful. Sharp switching will lead to drift of the car or to pro-slipping of wheels.

Do not overload the engine. Watch a tachometer, do not allow, that turns of the engine were in a red zone. Values of speed limit for each position of the lever above are given.

Do not allow long movement on lifting in positions of the lever "2" or "L", otherwise transmission will fail because of an overheat. At towage or for overcoming of lifting transfer the lever to situation "D".

Movement by a backing

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Completely stop the car.
2. Having pressed a brake pedal, move the lever to the situation "R".
It is forbidden to transfer the lever to the situation "R" during car movement.

 Parking

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Completely stop the car.
2. Extend the lever of the hand brake to the full and put the car on the hand brake.
3. Having pressed a brake pedal, move the lever to the situation "R".

Prevention

It is strictly forbidden to move the lever to the situation "R" during car movement. Otherwise serious breakages and controllability loss by the car are possible.

Councils on driving

Always on the working engine hold a foot on a brake pedal that will prevent slow movement of the car.

Do not try to hold the car on lifting by easy pressing a butterfly valve pedal as the transmission overheat is possible. Use foot and manual brakes.
