4.6. The pump of cooling liquid
GENERAL INFORMATION

The pump of cooling liquid

 Three small shooters specified openings for fastening bolts, and two big shooters specified control openings.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Failure of the pump of cooling liquid involves serious damages because of an engine overheat.
2. Before check warm up the engine. On the working engine press the top hose of a radiator and gradually release. At the serviceable pump the liquid pressure in a hose should be felt.
Prevention

Do not bring a hand close to fan blades.
3. In the pump the control opening for a liquid drain is provided. At failure of an epiploon of the pump through a control opening (see fig. The pump of cooling liquid) follows cooling liquid. To find an opening it is necessary to illuminate space behind a conducted flange of the pump, directly under shaft.
4. At destruction of bearings of the pump in a forward part of the engine the howling sound will be listened. It is possible to define wear of bearings shaking the pump up and down. The close sound on a tonality can publish and a sliping belt of a drive therefore, on a characteristic sound it is possible to draw an erroneous conclusion on malfunction of the pump. To exclude a sound from a belt put with dispersion special structure for automobile driving belts.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Engine 4E-FE
1. Disconnect the battery from weight and merge cooling liquid (see subsection 2.8.4).
2. Remove the generator, being guided by the description in subsection 3.3.11.
3. Unscrew a nut and two bolts of fastening of a rack of a soaking-up collector in a back part of the engine and remove a rack.
4. Disconnect inlet and perepuskny hoses from a branch pipe from an inlet branch pipe of the pump in a back part of the engine. Unscrew bolts of fastening and remove from the pump an inlet branch pipe, remove from a branch pipe end face ring laying.
5. Lift the receiver the index of level of oil. Unscrew a bolt of fastening of a tube of the index of level of oil and an adjusting arm of the generator to the engine, get a tube from the case of the oil pump.
6. Unscrew bolts and two nuts of fastening of the pump to the block of cylinders and remove the pump of cooling liquid in collecting (the pulley can remain on a pump shaft).
7. Disassemble the pump and replace laying. Carefully clear all demountable planes of the pump of the remains of a material of laying. Collect the pump, having established new laying.
Engines 4A-FE and 7A-FE
8. Disconnect the battery from weight and merge cooling liquid (see subsection 2.8.4).
9. Being guided by the description in subsection 2.6.4, remove belts of a drive of the pump of the hydraulic booster, the generator and the water pump and the conditioner compressor. Then remove the top arm of the hydraulic booster.
10. Being guided by the description, uncover heads of cylinders (see subsection 3.1.1.3) and the top covers of a gear belt (see subsection 3.1.1.6).
11. Lift the receiver the index of level of oil. Take aside a screw-driver the holder of conducting from an arm of a tube of the index of level of oil. Unscrew a bolt of fastening of a tube of the index of level of oil to the engine and get a tube from the case of the oil pump.
12. Unscrew two nuts of fastening of the right branch pipe of cooling liquid to a head of cylinders which are behind the pump, disconnect the socket from the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid (it is specified by an arrow) on a branch pipe.
13. Working from above, unscrew two nuts of fastening (a small arrow) branch pipe to a head of cylinders, unscrew the top bolt of fastening of the pump (a big arrow).
14. Working from below the car, unscrew two other bolts of fastening of the pump to the block of cylinders. The bolts fastening two covers of the pump not to turn on before complete removal of the pump assembled from the block of cylinders. Remove the pump of cooling liquid assembled with a branch pipe (the pulley can remain on a pump shaft).

15. Disassemble the pump (see fig. The pump of cooling liquid) also replace laying. Carefully clear all demountable planes of the pump of the remains of a material of laying, get ring laying and clear a flute. Collect the pump, having established new laying.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Engine 4E-FE
1. Put a hermetic strip (which should be got at the dealer) in the width about 3 mm on a sealing flute in the pump case, being guided by the instruction attached to hermetic.
2. Establish the assembled pump on the block of cylinders and fix a bolt and two nuts.
3. Establish other details upside-down. At installation of a tube of the index of level of oil replace a sealing ring in a place of an entrance of a tube in the oil pump. Replace also a ring on an inlet branch pipe of the pump.
4. After the completion of assembly wait not less than two hours that is necessary for hermetic hardening, then fill in liquid in cooling system (see subsection 2.8.4), start the engine and check existence of a leak and operation of the engine.
Engines 4A-FE and 7A-FE
5. Establish the assembled pump on the block of cylinders, previously having replaced a sealing ring. Replace laying of a branch pipe of the pump.
Prevention

If the pump is replaced new in connection with big run, it is necessary to replace and a hose connecting a branch pipe of the pump and an inlet branch pipe of the engine.
6. Establish other details upside-down. At installation of a tube of the index of level of oil replace a sealing ring in a place of an entrance of a tube in the oil pump.
7. Fill in liquid in cooling system (see subsection 2.8.4), start the engine and check existence of a leak and operation of the engine.
